Echo

The words echoed in my head."Mommy has breast cancer."  Tears.Here and there they fell, yet always in secret. The helplessness consumed me.A picture of death branded into my mind. This lasted for weeksand weeksand weeks.Grades fell.I stopped eating.A smile couldn't last 10 seconds before..."...mommy has breast cancer..."...It faded away. "Why is this happening?" It was an uphill battle for everyone,But I chose to fight it alone. Not supportingand unsupported. "...mommy has breast cancer..."The suffocating darkness ate away at my life,But it lifted after a while. After her chemo. After her loss of hair. After her sick days. After she won. "There's no more breast cancer."Bright skies revealed themselves once again. But there are still words that echo."It's hereditary."Words that wouldn't hold me back. But push me to go faster.A curseAnd a blessing.
