Earth and Ice

Icicles drip from the crisp leaves of century-old trees

Snow piles as pure dust like white powdery rust

The night whispers

The owls hoot into the dark

Squirrels gather for warmth in the trees, both brothers and sisters

Insects burrow in the frozen bark

Yes this is winter a most peculiar time of year

Gathered on this beautiful planet we call Earth

The beauty and stillness will make all hearts yearn and know their worth

It is Earth and ice
