The Eagle's Love

She flew like an eagle, vacant but unafraid

No one to touch, no one to hold

Welcoming the titillation of warm evening glow

No one who listens, no one who sounds

Soft waves splashing, echoing all around

No redolence to savor, the essence of cologne no more

Just salt from the water, distilled in the sand

Taste of mint, she does no more

Only the sweet fruit of the forbidden tree

She no longer sees his sparkling blue eyes

Only that of water and tenantless skies

She could live without him, not without love

She found the will to love herself

Completely alone

Still soaring like an eagle

Vacant an unafraid.
