Duality of Historic and Modern Black Women (Based off of a photo of Elizabeth Eckford -- see my original painting below)

Duality of Historic and Modern Black Women

-- 1957

Books, carassed in her arm,

Elizabeth, pressed on.

The tinted glasses could not keep her from harm.

Her entire disposition became withdrawn.

-- 2018

She stares at the photo,

There is something so familiar.

Though times have changed their voices echo,

as the energy of the photo grew stronger.
