Drowning

I drown in our love, but who is at fault?

For you are an ocean; unceasing waves

Splash me with sunlight and blind me with salt,

And I happily swim down to my grave.

When we kiss, upon the surface I float,

Above the dark depths that fill me with fear.

Your flattering words are beautiful notes,

And I dive into your waters so clear.

But, oh, how you drown me in your torrents

Your stormy anger overpowers me

And the face I loved becomes abhorrent

As I writhe helplessly beneath the sea.

I swim to you, but the current is fast

And beneath the cold waves, I sink at last.
