Drowning...

Location

Morning mist settles silently upon the pond.
A chilling dampness curses this horrid ground.
Nothing stirs or voices opinion.
Once full of life, now desolate, cold.
No frogs singing, dragonflies dancing, ducks diving.
Nothing left, none to tell their story.
Fear has taken hold their hearts.
Those not dead have simply fled.
Who would want to stick around?
Not I, that's for sure. But wait...
Somehow I am stuck, pulled towards it.
Slowly sucked into the abandoned pond.
No screams can leave my lips.
Finally, I understand. Nothing can live here.
Drowning... Drowning in this cursed beauty.
Never again to see life.
