Dreams

Location

Australia

Waking from a dream that carried me away

Away from the past sorrows of day to day

Free of the shackles of a hard working life

Three times I’ve forgiven, wrongs causing strife

But my dream is real, it’s part of my soul

An ancestral home visitation to be my goal

As a chrysalis soon I shall metamorphise

And as a beautiful butterfly, take to the sky

Leaving hurt and dismay all well far behind

Its my time to soar with an adventurous mind

I shall return to those I’ve loved and lived for

With a smile on my face as I walk thru the door

To see the green rolling hills and a babbling brook

Hiking the dales with a chestnut shepherd’s crook

It’s my dream, and one I shall see through to realise

A world of nature’s beauty seen with my very own eyes

Refreshed and reborn, I shall again hold those I love

Reuniting with family members on the wings of a dove

In body and soul, and in my mind, excited and keen

After a lifetime of work, I shall follow my dream

This poem is about:
My family

Dreams was written from a feminine perspective for a friend of mine who was telling me of her dreams of travel. It just struck a chord with me.
