A dream come true

People afraid to stand for their name,
Afraid that they'd be judged in vain,
Afraid to show courage,
Until a woman named Rosa Parks came and showed it.
She stood for her seat,
Therefore the bus driver gave her grief.
She was soon imprisoned,
Then placed in a horrible position,
But she didn't mind,
She knew she open the eyes of mankind.
She was soon praised,
And some white folks weren't ashamed.
Many years have passed,
And a man named Martin Luther King made a pact,
To and for all those who suffered with him,
Just for the color of their skin.
He and his followers made a stand,
But saw their chances for equality were slipping through their fingers like sand.
They didn't give up and continued protesting,
While the police kept arresting.
They have been arrested dozens of times,
Hoping to reach their destination that lies within their eyes.
Until a speech was made that changed everything,
By a King who had a dream.
He changed the hearts of millions of civilians,
That was inspired by his brilliance.
Except for a man who was aggravated,
And caused and assassination.
Since then everything changed,
Many have thought about the past and were ashamed.
Where a man’s dream came true,
And America’s heart was anew.
Today many people don’t judge a person by the color of their skin,
But they judge what lies within.
A law that is written in pen,
Hoping that this won’t happen again.
