Doors: Open Door

Wed, 08/23/2017 - 17:55 -- HPowers

As I sat outside in the dark hall,
the door across the way opened a little.
I gazed at the door,
observing the light that spilled out from the room it was concealing.
Loud laughter that enchanted me
echoed into the hall.
As I watched, a little shadow appeared on the ground,
blocking some of the light that came into the hall.
It made me nervous,
because that light that was so peaceful was being blocked.
Soon, as head leaned out the door,
looking into the hall.
Wide blue eyes met calm dark brown ones,
as we met each other for what seemed like the first time.
I had seen him before,
but we had never spoken.
As we gazed at each other,
he stuck out his tongue.
I smiled back,
as a response.
I did know him;
I’ve known him for a long time.
