Don't/Determination

Don’t tell me I can’t do something

Because I’ll prove you wrong.

Tell me I’m no musician

You’ll get a symphony, not a song.

Don’t tell me I’m not fast enough,

Take another glance.

See that? I’m ahead of you.

You’ve already missed your chance.

Don’t tell me I won’t be the best,

For I won’t be deterred.

I’ll be ahead leading the rest,

While you’re part of the herd.

Don’t tell me that I’ll never make it.

You’ll be surprised to see,

The only one who surpassed it all

Was yours truly, me.

Don’t tell me to sit down

Because I stand too tall.

I will continue to get up

No matter how many times I fall.

Don’t tell me to be silent

When I know that I am right.

I will not be violent,

But you will see my might.

Regardless of my circumstances

Or the obstacles at hand

I will not be kept down

I will live off the land.

No obstacles will stop me

From reaching the finish line.

I will make it there some way, somehow,

I’ll make it there in time.

You can try and stop me

You can kick me down

But I’ll keep moving

With a smile on my face, no frown.

I will do what I aim to do

And nothing will get in my way.

I do everything for me, not you.

Remaining determined at the end of the day.
