Done

Like an old toy,

Waiting to be played with again.

Collecting dust,

Thrown in a ben,

Taking up space in my room

Only fond memories prevent its doom.

But you’re not a toy.

Like an old book

That I never finished,

Collecting dust,

Pages diminished.

Taking up space in my room.

Only fond memories prevent its doom.

But you’re not a book.

Every time I say I’m done.

There's no more I can do.

I tell myself I've given up.

Can't hold on to the old you.

Best friends when we were little,

But we both have changed.

I feel like I can’t reach you.

You've gone out of my range.

For years and years,

I tried to hold onto the past,

Held on to the idea

That each wrong was your last.

Taking up space in my heart.

These old memories won’t let us part.
