Domesticated

As she looks out the window, her tail swishes.

Is this what’s become of her wishes?

This panther turned domestic

Is no less majestic

Than the vision of herself

That she left high on a shelf.

This adopted stray

Is no one’s prey.

She waits for her chance,

The right circumstance.

Her claws hitting the floor,

She darts for the door.

Breaking through the barrier,

Her dreams will carry her.

She basks in the sun,

Mama, your story has only begun.
