Does it Matter?

Does it matter?
We the people
Born the same way
Came out that hollow cave
Does it matter?
From the light Brights and the darks as nights
Still marching that same tune
Fighting for equality
Will it come someday soon…
Does it matter?
This color upon my skin the look I give will it end
Ashamed, embarrassed should I really be
“Psshh” yeah right, look what greatness was achieved
That same color upon my face
Was worn by so many greats who before took my place.
Does it matter?
Does it really matter?
As long as we the people
Came out that hollow cave the same way
And look at ourselves and those around
We should look with such a great awe and
Admiration that so many different people could
Come from the same genes and print out
So many different masterpieces--
Does it really matter what the color of my skin is?
