Does He Know?

Location

He is like a robot
His muscles are as big as boulders
His words are knives cutting her to the core,
When he is done she will have nothing left.
His eyes are coals: emotionless,
as if all the life has been sucked out of them.

Why can’t she think?
Why can’t she feel?
Why does he always have to be right?

When she pictures him, he has “the devil” with him
His arm rears back with “the devil” in his hand
and comes down with such force,
she cannot even cry.
Whack! 10 Whack! 11 Whack! 12…
She counts every time,
Will he ever stop?
Penetrating Pain;
Wide Whelps;
Diminished Dignity;
That’s what “the devil” leaves

He says she is the problem,
they say she is the problem,
but no one has ever walked a mile in her shoes.

She feels like he is in pure disgust at the sight,
of her.
She often asks herself: Does he know me?
Does he know my favorite color?

Does he know what it feels like to be unwanted?
Her soul moans; afraid of losing itself to him.
He has to know, he has to, but
Does he?
Does he know that he hurts her so?

Sometimes he says he doesn’t care,
She knows this is true, but what she doesn’t know is
Why?

It’s hard for her to remember the good times,
When her mind is so full with all the bad.
It wasn’t always like this,
What happened?

She’s going weak from all the pain he’s caused her,
almost to the point of being numb.
There is no way to flee,
How will she ever be free?
