We've gotten so accustomed to social media
that the only way we help
is through
them
We don't help like we used to
We shrug our shoulders and type
thinking it will help those in need
that the like will somehow send a prayer to God
why get on your knees if a site will pray for you?
why give a homeless person some money if you can share a picture of someone else doing it?
why demand change when you can sit on your bed and sign a petition without even using a pen?
It's so easy to care without actual effort.
So easy to make a hashtag
So hard to actually get them back.
why physically volunteer your time when you can do something "nice" in one second from your living room?
We all do it.
We tell ourselves
"it's the thought that counts"
but thoughts don't change what's happening
Actions do.
