A Diversified Eye

As I look around

I see before me

A world of beauty

A world of peace

I see a sea

Of all colors

All races

Hand in hand

All smiles

Wearing different styles

We get along

Day after day

Month after month

Year after year

What a sweet dream

Let's team up to seam

And team up to redeem

To achieve the extreme

Very nice play on MLK's "I Have a Dream" speech. I think this poem would be so much more powerful if you turned it into a story. For some odd reason, stories have a profound effect on our unconscious'. An example of how you might turn this poem into a story is by creating a character and having this character travel through this new world of acceptance and love. The trick will be to keep it short and sweet so you'll have to employ symbolism, imagery, metaphors, and similes. Luckily for you, Power Poetry has amazing Poetry Tips under the "Resource" tab. Here's the link to the one I think will be the most beneficial. http://www.powerpoetry.org/resources/poem-about-surroundings Use all of these tips to writing a poem about your surroundings and apply them to creating the world you've dreamed up in your imagination!
