Ditched

Wilted leaves tumble past

Helplessly

In the sun-warmed air

I stare into the sky

Endlessly

Wondering what’s for me out there

Cars rush past hurriedly

No doubt they’ve got a place to be

The drainage ditch in front of me

With pitch black slits and rusty teeth

Is all that seems to stay or care

In this world full of despair

While I wait forever sitting here

For my place

For my time

For my life and pride.
