The Distant College Next Door

Location

Two years ago,

Seems like a blip on my life’s radar.

Got conned into this four year plan,

Apparently that’s just how things are.

Moved into a residence hall,

Expecting a sense of support from the school.

Instead got plenty of bills,

Enough to make me stand still and drool.

I had an exciting vision for this place,

With students having control over their lives.

Instead I found Greek Row torn apart,

And anything similar taking a dive.

What is this strange university next to my house?

Definitely not what I had in mind.

The school I thought I was going to,

Left so far, far behind.

I wanted something to believe in,

A group of friends having so much in common.

Instead things feel forced,

While I munch on meals like ramen.

This place next to home,

Stands utterly devoid of harmony.

There being no sense of unity,

For a student body sounds kind of funny.

Increasing amount of online classes,

Live lectures being hard to come by.

No professor to speak to,

When the difficulty gets high.

One day maybe this school,

Being so close and near,

Can be a place of enjoyment,

And education that’s loud and clear.

What was once a dream has become a nightmare,

Education and fun were not here to stay.

The amazing place I thought was next door,

Is actually very far away.
