Proverbs 3:5   New English Translation

5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not rely on your own understanding.          

Dissatisfaction guaranteed

When the flesh serves God the power of sin is strengthened

There and then every time the Holy Spirit is quenched

The victory of Christ that we experience over sin

Loses all its power if in satisfaction we are drenched

When we celebrate victory by works and determination

We will succeed for a while, but then we’re back again

We sin in a different form, but really not in essence

As we just leaned on the flesh again with its defeated plan

The flesh seems Satan’s workshop and so it may always be

It will do well for a while and then wait for again to spin

Until the day we depart and are fully from self has been freed

Still here is given the opportunity for the flesh to sin within
