Discrimination In Society

Discrimination exists in practically every society. Based on physical characteristics, such as skin and hair color, maybe even the shapes of a person's eyes, a person is judged. Personality is not a factor in judging someone, in most cases, it isn't even considered.

If I could change one thing I would change the way people look at each other. Instead of seeing something different when you look at a person, all you would see is the potential they have at maybe being your friend. Skin color wouldn't matter, and where you came from would be insignificant.

Sadly, many people are not like this. Racism and discrimination was present in the Atlantic Slave Trade, when African Americans were forced, against their own will, to work as slaves for the white man. They were taken from their homes in Africa, leaving behind their families, to go to a foreign place where who knows what would await them.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. helped get rid of discrimination, even if it was just a little bit, when the Civil Rights Act was passed.

Discrimination continues today, although not as prominent, and hopefully, in the future, will be completely wiped from our minds, so no one person, by the color of their skin, will be any different than any other.
