Ecclesiastes 6:12
12 For no one knows what is best for a person during his life—
during the few days of his fleeting life— for they pass away like a shadow.
Nor can anyone tell him what the future will hold for him on earth.
Help me to see and understand and so to speak the words needed
It appears simple from the outside but what about the inner man?
Words are words and some carry weight while most are oft repeated
Words of truth bring life in love and hope for the average clan
It seems not fair that hope can’t contain the fullness of Salvation
As long as we’re in this body of flesh decay prevails more each day
Maybe after all is said and done it will turn to the rightful place
in a forgotten realization of the price God had to personally pay
All things appear vaguely now like a glance through a dirty window
Shadows seem to fall on about all things and turn white towards grey
Now as we travel on a landscape covered with valleys, rocks and slopes
While most all power is provided and not recognized as we’re on our way
And if we pray we ask amiss as our own desires cloud our vision
In that we’re searching for purpose that’s already stored in the heart
Our time wasted constantly in bible study and lots of reminiscing
And we call that serving the Lord living a life depending on our smarts
Long ago it appeared so definitely that it’s easier to relive yesterday
And so get lost in the feeble dreams of what tomorrow may hold
So that for tears cried by mankind today I don’t have to pay
As in my chosen illusionary state I can ignore what death unfolds
Escape from self in a way is to get lost deep into one’s self
Gurgling sounds of desperation are surely then to follow
Drowning into a state of existence searching for a wishing well
That was dug long ago somehow by depravity’s call to wallow
