It's so hot out

Like a furnace ready to roast a three-dollar chicken from

the sad grey dirty grocery store on the corner

I can't breathe

just feel like an orca come up from the deep onto the

sand littered with cigarette butts

And I see a cooler on the ground

Free water, says the

(green marker, exclamation point)

And I think

I understand how those pink fish we eat

Swim for months

I open the lid:

Blue on the outside,

white on the inside
