Dinner Conversation

We sit at the table,

"Pass the gravy please",

any starter conversation enabled,

but it's usually politics on war.

"You love them so much?!"

You'll start to say,

"The go over there! Give them your trust!"

Then you finish your speech.

When I was a child,

I was taught not to push or shove,

to pick someone up,

and give them my coat.

Just as I was once little,

there are even smaller ones,

growing up too fast,

becaue grown ups ignored their own rules.

How can it be,

that to save innocent lives,

we come with destruction,

rather than take away fear?

Let us come with a new start,

if the world gives us closed fists

let us come with open hearts,

and willing spirits.

For the paradox we've heard,

"To disable evil,

we must combat seven fold",

who do we save?

Take each hand,

covering welled up eyes,

give them their childhood,

and peace.

Let bitterness melt away,

to see new life,

unhinge past anxieties and thoughts,

to learn that you no longer need to fight.

Then go to lead others,

do not hate,

but have compassion,

and be free.
