A Different Downfall

Location

A silent fall from up on downA time which hangs on by a strandSo rigid, small, and ecru brownThe swift, impartial, rimose sand Each pebble slips away a dayIt drips and never falls back upJust where it lands, there it will layOne by one each will stack up As daylight drags the night alongAnother pebble seeps on throughIt bequeaths the just to wrongUttering tacit adieus True, years will fly into the pastA one-way trip each one will takeSwearing this leave to be their lastSquall at the beauty, hence to wake Take advantage of this dayHelp the mortal in his pleaWalk each word of every sayAnd love each heart as it should be For nothing is bestowed to happenThat portion comes from your own fate Life's the crew and you're the captainDon't let your soul sink to abate Men always talk of being tough;though even pebbles cease their time. For time has been the greatest bluff; it kills the weak and the sublime.
