did you see her go

Did you see her go
The girl with the blood hair
She rode the carpet out
To tan under the stars;

In the seal of her lips
Was a promise
Caught on ragged breath and
Plastered to the mirror
It throbs with the call of the ocean
In your eyes reflected;

She swept herself away
Embalmed in sand and sunlight
Piercing as Sirius in her touch
Against your scorched skin
The sparking embers
Hung around your neck;

In the whisper of lightning
You hear her again
Taste her again
Need her again
Stand on the roof with a golf club
Try to feel her again;

Did you see her go
The girl with the blood hair
She held the match on her tongue
And dared you to breathe fire;

In the silence of her lungs
Was a song
Caught on unlatched hands and
Wrapped around your throat
It gasps with the life of another
In your eyes reflected;

She checked out at midnight
Lost in the middle of the road
Stitched together with dental floss
In the shadow of a lighthouse
The scars a reminder
Echoing in your memory;

In the darkness of thunder
You see her again
Miss her again
Want her again
Crawl under the fence
Try to love her again;

Did you see her go
The girl with the blood hair
She scattered with the wind
To wear the universe again

Did you see her go

The girl with the blood hair

Did you see her go
