Destiny

Location

Destiny,

Defined as the destination of life predetermined by fate.

Definitions are great,

But my own destiny I will create.

Unfortunately, I thought this journey would be a piece of cake

Until I was hit in the face

By the realization that my body was no longer my own space.

I’m a mom.

No more prom, no more college, no more teenage life.

Now I’m afraid my journey will no longer be cake,

But instead it will be full of hardship and strife.

Everyone is telling me no,

And to go

End the life that we created.

But she didn’t choose me,

I chose her.

So the least I can do is try my best to guide her

Through the journey we call life.

And at the end of the day,

I can say

That I didn’t stop.

I can say I was strong enough

To carry myself and my daughter to the mountaintop.
