Define: Equality.

In case you hadn’t realized,

Being “different” is no longer acceptable,

Assuming that it ever was.

It seems as if people are no longer perceived as people,

But are categorized into stratifications that accompany unnerving labels.

“He’s black”, “She’s white”, it’s truly pathetic.

Regardless of whether you’re black, white, gay, male, or female.                                 

There is one important adjective that fails to linger,

“Human”.

People cannot grasp simplicity,

So they assign equivocal labels and proceed to act out in manners not short of condescension.

The necessity of excessive elaboration is astounding,

And it only results in bullying, belittlement, and ignorant consequences.

No one deserves injustice solely because of innate situations,

Nor does anyone deserve the revocation of civil liberties because of pompous power mongers.

And until we learn to embrace the fact that the human race embodies a powerful coalition,

Satisfaction is but a blurred mirage.

The intensifying truth, shielded falsehood,

The two seem interchangeable.

But differences must be set aside,

And toleration must be implemented into this global commonplace.

On behalf of this Union,

The following words were written:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.
