The Death of Adam Sandler

The robots march

They play their drums

As he is carried out

Wearing Honor and Splendor

Showered with the flowers of military

Rites, as he is lifted

For the whole world

To see. Slain from his

Battle, with wounds to

Prove his bravery,

The soldiers fold his

Flag, while he lowers

Down into the place

Where he and his father

Discuss the battles they've

Fought and won.

Sadie and Sunny,

Stand before him,

With Sadie holding her

Mother's hand, hoping

That in her grief, that

She doesn't jump in to

Wake up her husband.

Sunny says her final goodbyes,

Honoring her father's bravery

With a final salute, waving him

Goodbye as though he's going

To school for the first time.

And Jackie remains

Paralyzed, hearing His tune

While she waits for her

Onassis.
