Death

She is marigold and roses,

A song sung with old friends,

The warmth of conversation,

With loved ones at day's end.

She is folded flags and medals,

And a candle on the porch,

The light that's there to guide you,

Like that famous harbor torch.

She lifts you up with gentle hands,

And helps you on the way,

To the afterlife awaiting,

In the final light of day.

Lift the sugar skull and see her,

Smiling sweetly just for you,

And trust that she'll be there,

Sure as the sky is blue.
