Dear Sleep

Dear Sleep,

Thank you for the comfort you bring.

For being my safe place, when my feelings are too much,

when all I want to be is numb,

when the world is too much for me to handle,

when being me is too much.

Sleep, thank you for the energy in the morning,

for me to only return it to you midday.

Thank you while I sleep through this heart ache

for giving me time to figure out this empty world of mine.

Sleep, you erase the feeling of loss

of the company I can't seem to keep.

Thank you for letting me escape the silence.

Even as I write this, I cannot wait to fall back into this trance that helps being awake

more bareable.

Thank you.
