Dear father

Dear father,

I'm sorry you had to find out this way. I'm sorry I've hidden, lied, deceived. I'm sorry you had to find out this way.

You once told me to be honest. You once told me to be true. You once told me to be good. You once told me about the sin of man. You once told me about his vile lust for the flesh. You once told me about the sin of one man loving another man.

You once told me I was a sin.

So I hid. I hid behind false premises. I lied about boyfriends and boys and crushes. I deceived you so you would love me.

I don't want to hide anymore now. I want you to know, but I'm just too scared to tell you in person. I'm too scared of how you will react, whether it be with grief or rage or elation. I'm just too scared.

I'm sorry you had to find out this way.
