Dear Ex-lover

Dear ex-lover,

everyone is afraid something. Some are afraid of the dark, spiders, or even falling in love.

I am afraid of the possibility that one day I will run into you on the streets, at a party, or even at a store and find your hand intertwined with a girl's.

A girl who is not me.

I am afraid that while I stand there alone that I'll see your eyes full of love that I never had the privilege to feel as you simply watch her.

I am afraid that I'll spend my life alone because I'll still be caught up with the impossibility that you will love me.

I am afraid that I never mattered when you were my everything.
