Dear Brother

Dear Big Brother,

“Stop singing! Grow up!”

I yelled as I ran down the stairs.

“You’re twenty-two, and you’re still singing kiddy songs.”

I don’t think you even heard my hurtful words

Through your Bose noise-cancelling headphones.

You turned to see me standing there,

And smiled

And continued to dance to “The Wiggles”.

Regret flooded over me, and even though you didn’t hear,

I wished I could take back those words.

You find such joy in your songs,

And even though hearing the same song

852 times in a row

Can get under my skin,

I shouldn’t take that out on you.

I’m sorry

For all the times my patience

Can’t match your own.

Please continue to be

Be patient with me.

Much love,

Your Sister
