Dear Black

Dear Black,

Do you hate yourself as much as "they" do?

Are you aware that people are killed on account of you?

I was told that you create division and you're not at the top.

To be honest, I think about that a lot.

I want you to know that I see you.

I know people think you're trouble, but I've seen what you can do.

You paint the sky at night to let the sun rest.

You make women feel slim when they don't feel at their best.

You are my protection from the sun.

I'm not medium rare, but because of you, I am well-done.

You chase after humans, although your color is faded.

You were a type of TV, but now it's outdated.

Look in almost any book and you mark up the pages.

You are used to end a show and are seen across stages.

You're an icon, a star, and a thing that can't be missed.

You started a revolution and are praised with a fist.

I know you very well you see.

I just wanted to say thank you for choosing me.

Signed,

Your biggest fan
