Dear Addiction
Dear Addiction,
Your tendencies ruined my childhood,
I never imagined that it would.
Lies, deceit and death,
all took me in one breath.
A part of my heart broke,
the day he never woke.
Young, so young was I to know,
one disease would make him go.
I tried to find someone to blame,
when you finished playing your game.
One time was all it took,
to plant the initial hook.
My father he tried his best to be,
but he was always in your captivity.
There is one thing I learned from you,
I will not play your games too.
Sincerely,
A Deceased Addict’s Daughter
