the darkness

(poems go here) It’s three in the morning, and I’m wide awake.
I can hear the wind whispering outside my window,
But I can’t hear the secrets it tells.
I get out of bed and head to the park,
To the willow tree that sits in the dark.
I can see the stars shining down on me,
Eyes twinkling in silent reverie.
I look up to the heavens in prayer,
But the answers I search for,
They are never given to me.
Where do I go? What do I do?
Why in my dying need, have you gone and left me?
And you, Why have you gone and taken her from me?
You didn’t need her, you just didn’t want me to have her.
God, take me to the mountain tops; take me to cave down by the river.
Take me through depths of the ocean; take me through hell, for all I care.
I cursed at the moon, and I shouted into the darkness.
My life’s purpose is gone. My only reason lies in death.
