The Dark Water

Sat, 02/28/2015 - 21:40 -- Bella_W

The dark waters swirl around me,

Coming up higher with every passing thought.

Every single second of every day,

The water slowly rises.

So dark, like the night with no moon and no stars.

So black, as it rises up past my legs,

I can no longer see my own skin.

And, as the water rises,

The pulling, pushing current,

Grows ever stronger.

Pulling me one way,

Then shoving me another.

I whisper for help,

As the water gets to my neck.

The freezing, dark water,

That has long since stopped,

My slowly bleeding heart.
