Dark Night

It is a dark night.

There is hardly any light

Besides the moon, which can be a fright.

I feel the whoosh of the breeze.

The temperature is as thought I might freeze.

And I gather shelter beneath a few trees.

I hear the sound of the wildlife.

I see a knife.

And I think of my afterlife.

Suddenly, a man comes toward me.

I try to break free,

but he has covered my eyes so I cannot see.

I start to cry,

I want to die.

I hear the man sigh.

AHHHHHH! I scream as I wake up.

I reach for the cup

And found a closeup.

I curl under my bed.

There are screams in my head.

And I think of what I said.
