Dancing in the Storm

Gracefully I dance
elegant twirls
creating swirls
in the sand
faster and faster
I dance
as the waves around me
Crash
and threaten to take me
into the unforgiving
Depths
I leap into the air as water
claims the ground around me
I’m panicking
falling
afraid this is the end
I close my eyes
to accept my fate
Then a bright light shines
from my feet and
illuminates all the other patterns
as if the water did not already
claim them.
I’m Untouchable
Now, as I dance
I make etches in the sand
no longer afraid of
the cold ocean depths
for the light protects me
in the Darkness
