Dance

I smile at my partner

As we dance across the floor

Moving to music

We’ve never heard before

The song changes

I can’t continue

It’s too fast, too much

I don’t even want to

I bow out

My dance is done

The music plays

As bright as the sun

I step into the dark

The dance was fun, but just a lark

My music has ended, my song is gone

It’s time to sacrifice the pawn

But my partner reaches out for me

Pulls me back in, won’t let me leave

It’s not time to go. Don’t you see?

There’s always music as long as you believe.”
