Daddy don't

The lights darken.

The moon has risen.

The beast is awake.

I have hidden.

Hiding from my fears.

My pain.

My truth.

My life.

He finds me.

I run.

A game like Tom and Jerry.

I am found.

The fear has risen.

My eyes filled with tears.

I beg and I plead that he won't.

Daddy don't.

My last words.

Daddy don't.

I am ignored.

I am hurt more.

He screams and he hits.

My face is bloody and I am scarred.

Daddy don't.

One more punch and I'll be done.

My body is numb.

The only thing moving is my blood.

He shuts his eyes.

I whisper to myself as the lights begin to fade.

Daddy don't.

This poem is about:
Me
My family
Our world
