Daddy!

Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

Look at how I jump,

Watch me swing as high as the sky,

like a bird I really do fly,

into your arms as you catch me once again,

With you in this world,

there really is no wrong,

only the good, sweet, and strong,

Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

Look at this song I wrote,

It sounded good in my head,

even if I can’t hold a note,

Yet you smile and laud me with praise,

like a broken record I sing for days,

You have always listened,

regardless of what I say,

Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

what is wrong with me?

all the boys at school— they laugh and tease,

frustrated tears stream down my face,

how the next four years would cause much pain,

yet like a stoic brick wall,

there you remain,

supporting me and my foolish ways,

Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

See your little girl,

oh how much I have grown!

it’s scary to think I’ll be on my own,

Daddy please,

give me some imparting advice,

before this— you were my life,

how do I see when lacking your knowing eyes?

Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!

you mean the world to me,

even though I no longer swing,

I will fly high on determined wing,

you are what I can’t live without,

my lifeline and guide,

I promise to make you proud,

Daddy how I love you so,

yet my time has come— I must lead a life of my own.
