Cyclical Regret

Location

Bursting with opportunity,

The world is but a door

Hiding potential, sheltering hope

At the mercy of those within

Some individuals prevail

The ones harboring power

Opening doors

Succeeding in every endeavor

The timid fall back

Apprehension apparent

With discontent thick in the air

Missed opportunity rubs confidence raw

The abrasive touch of regret

Hindering the future

Clouding past triumphs

Holding back bright spirits

Chances seemingly vanish

The door closes, the key turns

Bursting with opportunities for all

Unfortunate souls see only a locked door

I often find myself regretting decisions that I've made or even ones that I didn't. I tried to capture that in this poem.
