Current of Heartbreak

Location

Plans I have made,

but drections unclear

Deeper into the water I wade,

with the future so near

Water rushes past my feet,

mud wiggles between my toes

All the obstacles I must beat,

though time never slows

A few steps ahead, I'm up to my waist,

fightingthe current trying to cross

I struggle to make haste,

as it will soon lose its gloss

A few strides, I can't touch

scared to look around

It becomes too much,

but my mouth doesn't make a sound

Yearning for a hand to lead,

I take my last breath

No one would hear me pead,

as I began to accept my death

A few looks and I would've seen

the hand reaching out for me,

Hoping to intervene,

as I began to fly free

I left the world prematurely,

leaving a current of heartbreak

But Momma, please don't worry

for now, I will never feel another ache
