Curiosity Killed the Cat

Location

Playful, loving, full of energy.

Golden fur and a long bronze tail.

Capable of killing,

But unwilling to do so.

Larger than a fully grown man,

But raised by middle school girls.

Running.

Back and forth.  Back and forth.

Chasing after his girls,

But laughter filled the air.

They played games and loved each other,

But he was a beast.

Teeth like daggers that could break bones.

A killer and a best friend.

Claws like needles in length,

But sharp as knives.

Paws the size of the girls’ faces,

But they were not afraid.

Curiosity – a trait instilled in animals.

He missed his girls.

He dug and dug to escape,

But it was not deep enough.

He tried to slip under the fence,

But he was unaware of his size and strength.

His neck was caught,

But he pushed on,

Trapping himself, taking his own life.

No one saw.

No one knew.

But three girls lost their best friend.
