The Cuckoo's Nest

Tell me,

Tell me how whole we are

An unbroken family unit, no longer bent on space between calls.

Remind me how intimate our ties are

Forged by your flights of anxiety and his fights with insanity.

Scold me again

How I should be grateful for whats remaining

And ignore the isolation.

Tell me,

Tell me how happy you  are

As I sit speaking to an empty table piled up with leftovers.

Remind me how he is my 'father'

And forget that my dad has been absent far longer.

Scold me once more

About why I should feel at home

When I am the egg leftover from the Cuckoo bird's coup.

Tell me,

Tell me why am I the stranger?
