A Cruel Love

Love came with you, engulfing me like a flame.

We were supposed to be forever,

But all that’s left is blame.

You promised you adored me like no other

When did love become unnoticeable?

When did passion disappear?

Why did you leave me here

Waiting for you, alone?

The only thing worse than missing you

Is the hurt I feel

My heart can’t handle someone so cruel.

The rain pours out of the sky like my tears run out of my eyes

You’re not worth it.

You were once good and gentle,

But now you are the thorn embedded in my side.

I have waited for you over the years,

Even though I knew better.

Your thorn in my side is too much,

So I dig it out of my side with my thumb,

Cause, darling I’m done.
