To the Cruel and the Heartless

To the cruel and the heartless,

you know who you are.

Don't try to turn your head,

you don't have a heart.

You may not know me,

at least not well.

But don't you worry,

because soon you will.

I know who you are,

you're the one who beats, kicks, and hurts that dog.

That dog I'll soon save from you.

You're the monster, the dictator, and the self-titled master.

But in reality, you're the cruel and heartless bastard.

You're the reason the rest of us adopt, save, and rescue.

Why we dedicate our lives, to the beaten, broken few.

Because of you, these dogs have no trust;

their emotions are tangled,

their collars with rust.

To those cold, lonely nights, you leave your dog to himself,

and the food you don't feed him,

that taunts him from the shelf.

So to the cruel and the heartless,

I hope you hear me loud and clear.

I will save those dogs from you,

the ones cold, alone, and left in fear.

I dream of the day, where no dog goes unloved,

where humans appreciate, hold, and love,

these dogs who don't stand a chance,

against you cruel and heartless abusers.
