Creature of The Dark

Location

A night owl you are,

You live and crave for the dark.

Do you live to greet the shadows of the night,

Only to once again part?

Or do you live for the nights on open roads,

And headlights full of bliss?

Oh, how you yearn for the late hours before the light.

But what about when the brisk, cool air creeps in to caress your surface,

Gentle and sweet?

When the goosebumps of memories arise,

And you ponder the life you live?

The eerie times where the nightmares in your head overpowers the serenety of your bed?

And damn, what about when the sounds of the night turn to whispers?

Whispers of gunshots and sirents burning red and ringing in your ears?

When your mind begings to burn you slowly,

Leaving you to lie there paralyzed in fear?

Yet you long for the dimly illuminated skyline,

Free from chaos of the day.

But you keep hostage the demons inside,

And hide from the light.

Oh, don't you still love the night?

Wow this poem is really good. I love the battle between the beautiful light and the pitiful darkness. This character is so turned around and she shows so much emotion. Please read my poems and tell me what you think.
