"Mommy, Mommy!"
The only words that could compete with the ringing in her ears,
With the screams and cries.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
She felt something warm and wet,
Making her crawl faster
Faster
Faster
But the voice would not dim.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
She couldn't breathe.
Smoke filled her lungs,
Sobs filled her eyes, her mouth, her nose.
She didn't know where she was until a man said,
"Station closed."
"Mommy, Mommy!"
The sound was echoing in her ears.
She had to stand up.
She had to get out.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
She passed an arm and a leg,
A right foot, a left foot.
Her heart was going to explode from her chest.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
Red and blue lights filled the street,
She tried again to stand.
She had to run;
She had to get away in case it happened again.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
She couldn't feel her body;
She didn't know if there was pain
But she could see it everywhere else.
She could hear it.
"Mommy, Mommy!"
